WM “Rusty” Miller, age 71, Erwin, went home peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, while he was surrounded by his loving family at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. He is a son of the late John Bill “J.B.” Miller and Roxie Helton Miller. Rusty lived most of his life in Unicoi County.
He retired from Regal Beloit where he worked as a Machinist for several years. Rusty attended Southside Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed living life, playing horseshoes, joking around with others, watching UT Football and wrestling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: James Miller, Dewey Miller, Stella Broyles, Nora Miller, Rosie Johnson, Joseph Miller, and Ann Tolley.
Rusty leaves behind to cherish many wonderful memories, his wife of nine years, Shirley Masters Miller; his three children: Jonathan Miller (Connie), Greeneville, SC, Danny Miller (Amanda), Pickens, SC and Melisa Rider (Bob), Radisson, WI; his brother, Bobby Miller, Unicoi; eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Rusty’s family will receive friends on Thursday, August 4, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Southside Freewill Baptist Church. Reverend Kevin Laws will officiate the 7:00 p.m. service. Music will be provided by Darren Higgins, Reverend Kevin Laws, J.P. Metcalf, and Scott Metcalf. Committal will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday in the Seviers United Methodist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Daniel Miller, Cameron Miller, Willie Parker, Eddie Effler, Robert Rider, and Drake Rider. Honorary pallbearers will be Renee Rider, Phoenix Rider, and Men of Southside Freewill Baptist Church. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
