Richard Maxwell Minor, age 91, of Erwin, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024. He was a native of Rusk County, Texas and son of the late Richard Minor and Clara Maxwell Minor. Richard lived most of his life in Texas before moving to Erwin over twenty-two years ago.
He was a United States Army Veteran who served his country honorably. Richard was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He retired as a Supervisor from Baker Industries.
Richard loved to raise a garden. He enjoyed watching football and NASCAR. Richard liked to play games on his computer and connect with family and friends on Facebook.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by one son, Danny Minor; two stepsons: Jr Grindstaff and Ronnie Grindstaff; two brothers and three sisters.
Richard leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of thirty-eight years, Shirley Tittle Minor and one son, David Minor, of Texas; he also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
The Minor family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Richard’s graveside service will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Site) on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 p.m. on Thursday.
