Kyle Ray Holloway, age 79, of Erwin, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at his residence. He is a son of the late Reverend Haru Holloway and Lucy Buchanan Holloway. Kyle lived most of his life in Erwin.
He was a United States Army Veteran. Seargent Kyle Holloway served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Expert Rifle M-16 Badge.
Kyle retired from CSX Transportation where he worked as part of the Bridge Gang. He became an ordained preacher with the Freewill Baptist Association in 1973. During the 1970’s and 1980’s he preached at multiple churches. Kyle was attending Straight Way Freewill Baptist Church. He loved the Lord with all his heart, and he loved going to church. Kyle was a master carpenter. He helped build both his children’s houses.
In addition to his parents, Kyle was preceded in death by one brother, Allen Holloway; three sisters: Freda Lightfoot, Tracie Holloway, and Jenny Tucker.
Kyle leaves behind to cherish many wonderful memories, his loving wife of fifty-six years, Carol Griffith Holloway; two children: Debra Holloway, of Erwin and Keith Holloway and wife, Brandy, of Erwin; two brothers: Johnny Holloway and wife, Lucille, and Darrell Holloway; two sisters: Janie Zimmerman and husband, Rick and Lorie Holloway; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The Holloway family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Reverend Tony Cook and Reverend Jim Griffith will officiate the 7:00 p.m. funeral service. Committal will be held on Thursday, at 1:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Raymond Ward, Steven Rainbolt, Matt Howell, Jeff May, Jason Holcomb, David Griffith, and Keith Holloway. Those wishing to attend the committal are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.
