Janice Faye Tipton Cooper, age 82, of Erwin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at her residence while she was surrounded by her family. She was a lifelong resident of Erwin and daughter of the late John C. Tipton and Dorothy Mae Thomas Tipton.
Janice was a homemaker. She was formerly employed at Hoover Ball and NN Ball and Roller. Janice attended Pilgrim Freewill Baptist Church where she was affectionately called “Sis”. She loved her family and her church family. Janice enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, flowers, and making homemade candy. She was a mamaw to all and liked helping others in any way she could.
In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband, George P. Cooper on February 17, 2005; her son, Curtis L. Cooper; two brothers: John Edward Tipton and Steven Tipton.
Janice leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Christy Cooper Edwards and husband, Calvin, of Erwin; four grandchildren: Hannah Runnion, Deanna Cooper Nichols, Johnny Tipton and Angel Tipton; one great grandson, Cooper Pate; one brother, Johnny R. Tipton (Dawn) and one sister, Willa Dean Ryon; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Janice’s graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024, in the Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend Danny Hughes will officiate. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:55 p.m. The family will receive friends at Janice’s residence, 2309 Chestoa Pike, Erwin, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
