Wayne C. Bowman, age 80, West Palm Beach, Florida, was called to Heaven on Sunday, April 26, 2020 after succumbing to a long and courageous battle with cancer. Wayne was born in Erwin, Tennessee on September 12, 1939, to the late Richard “Roe” and Loris Clouse Bowman.
At a young age, he began working with his family dairy and produce farms, as well as the family restaurant, all while attending school and church. Wayne graduated from Unicoi County High School and later he studied Engineering. He honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy aboard the flagship USS Pocono.
Wayne returned to Erwin, married and started a family. He continued his employment ascension which included moving his family to Florida, where he enjoyed a Supervisory position at Cape Canaveral Space Center, where he worked on the Apollo 11 project. Wayne later returned with his family to Erwin and excelled quickly as a Supervisor at Superior Hone, as well as a humble member of the Free Masons. He eventually moved to South Florida where he was able to utilize his engineering expertise, while developing a stellar reputation in construction throughout the United States, Panama and Central America.
Wayne was a kindhearted, generous, and accomplished person throughout his life. He has been blessed with family and friends who will continue to love him dearly. He will be in our hearts and greatly missed for all eternity.
