Wanda Tilson Mermon, age 84, of Johnson City passed away Wednesday November 25, 2020 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She is a daughter of the late Earl and Della Higgins Tilson. Wanda was a native of Erwin but had lived in Johnson City most of her life.
Wanda loved looking at magazines and pictures of her grandchildren. She was known in her community as ‘Old Gran’. She was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Mermon; one grandson, Lou Trent; two brothers: David Tilson and Billy Tilson; three sisters: Mildred Constable, Earlene Briggs, and Wilma Jones.
Wanda leaves behind to cherish her memory, one son, Randy Mermon; two daughters; Diane Trent and Charlene Whitaker, all of Johnson City; six grandchildren: Tonya Sparks (Ryan), Kevin Whitaker (Natasha), Josh Whitaker (Beth), Ralph Trent (Jessica), Brandy Frazier (Chad), and Travis Mermon; twenty great grandchildren; three sisters: Mary Hoilman, Margaret Richardson, Bobbie Jean Webb; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 8, 2020 under the portico of the Evergreen Mausoleum. Reverend Darrell Edwards will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ralph Trent, Josh Whitaker, and Kevin Whitaker. Everyone wishing to attend is asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:55 PM Tuesday.
Due to Covid-19 recommendations, family and friends in attendance are requested to wear a protective face covering and practice social distancing.
