Virginia (Friesland) Green

Virginia Friesland Green, age 98, of Erwin, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025. She was born in Ashe County, North Carolina but spent most of her life in Unicoi County. She is the daughter of the late Charles and Flora Payne Friesland.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, R.P. Green; daughter, Kathryn Green Masters; great grandson, Jackson Green; four sisters and six brothers.

Survivors include her son, Allen Green and wife, Janet; grandchildren: Paul Green and wife, Sandy, Tracy McInturff and husband, Andy, Robin McAllister and husband, Brian; great grandchildren: Austin Green and wife, Molly, Alex and Max Green, Andrew Morris and wife, Kayla, Nathaniel Lingerfelt, Hunter and Drew McInturff, Noah and Mia McAllister; great-great grandchildren: Lewis, River and Ellie Green, Silas and Mia Morris, Hendrix McAllister, and Oakley Lingerfelt; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Governor’s Bend and Center on Aging and Health for the excellent care given to Virginia.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in the Roselawn Memory Gardens. Pastor Peter Layton will officiate. Music will be provided by Teresa Masters. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m. on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in memory of Virginia to Unicoi Baptist Church, 100 Tennessee Street, Unicoi, TN 37692 where Virginia was a lifelong member.
