Viola Mae Blanks Veariel, age 98, Candler, NC, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 20, 2021, at the John F. Keever Solace Center after a brief illness. She is a daughter of the late William Asbury Blanks and Virgie Galbreath Blanks. Viola lived most of her life in Dallas, Texas before moving to Candler seven years ago.
She retired from computer operating forty-five years ago. Viola was a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas and attended West Asheville Baptist Church. She loved to cook, especially sweet treats. Viola was known for her fudge and baby ruth bars. She loved her family and treasured spending time with them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Penn River Harding and seven brothers and sisters.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two daughters: Brenda Harding (Wayne), Flag Pond and Becky Stephens (Ken), Wells Point, TX; three grandchildren: Jillian Hamilton (Jim), Bradley Harding (Tanya) and Shane Mauldin (Alissa); eleven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
A private family memorial service will be held in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Son-in-law, Dr. Jim Hamilton will officiate her memorial service. Committal services will be held at a later date in the Belew Cemetery.
