Tony Bailey Obituary

Tony Marcus Bailey, age 70, of Erwin, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the James H. Quillen Veterans Administration Medical Center. He is a son of the late Marcus Bailey, Jr. and Betty Jane Huskins Bailey.

Tony lived most of his life in Erwin. During his time in the military, he lived in Alaska, North Carolina and Kentucky.

Tony was a proud United States Army Veteran having served his country honorably for over sixteen years. He was awarded 5 Good Conduct Medals, 2 NCO Professional Development Ribbon’s, 3 Overseas Service Ribbon’s, Army Service Ribbon, Expert Badge M-16 Rifle, Army Lapel Button, National Defense Service Medal, and Air Assault Badge.

After Tony’s military career ended, he returned to Erwin and worked at NN Ball and Roller for several years. He attended Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church.

Tony was a loving father and grandfather, a loyal brother, and he was a kind friend.

In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by a sister, Paula Ann Delph.

Tony leaves behind to cherish his memory, his two children: Mindy N. Bailey of Bristol and Jayson Lee Bailey of Kentucky; grandchildren: Allyson Bailey, Braiden Bailey, Alivia Edwards, Nova Bailey, and Markus Bailey; brother, Eddie Bailey (Kelly) of Chuckey, Rhonda Bradley (Bill) of Erwin, and Sherry Whitson (Scott) of Erwin; special friend, Diane Lynch; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Tony’s family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church. Tony’s funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Noah Taylor officiating. Tony’s committal service with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026, in the Evergreen Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Robbie Casey, Ethan Bailey, Scott Whitson, Josh Peterson, Greg Allen, and Tommy Huskins. Honorary pallbearers will be Benny Blankenship, Curt Blankenship, Alfred Hensley, Tim Bailey and Mike Coyne. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home by 9:30 a.m. on Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.
