Sue (Wilson) Phillips Cox

Sue Phillips Cox, age 88, of Erwin, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. She was a lifelong resident of Erwin and daughter of the late Dave Wilson and Nova Rasnick Wilson.

Sue retired from Texas Instruments with over twenty-five years of service. She was a member of Grace Methodist Church, and she attended Fishery Community Church.

Sue lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed spending time at her lake house which was located on Watauga Lake. Sue liked water skiing and all boating activities. She loved live music and dancing with all her friends. Sue was an avid sports fan and a die-hard UT fan. She also loved her Atlanta Braves. Sue worked hard taking care of her lawn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and father of her child, Guy Phillips; her second husband, Rex Cox; brother, David H. Wilson; sister, Letha A. Wilson Whitson.

Sue leaves behind to cherish her memory, her only child, Pamela Jones and husband, Terry of Erwin; granddaughter, Myikaela Jones Vincent and husband, Nick, all of Erwin; special friend, Howard Hoilman of Erwin; special nephew, David Whitson; her beloved dogs: Bella, Rockie, Murphy, and Wesley; several other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

A funeral service will be held for Sue in the Evergreen Mausoleum at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025. Pastor CJ Zettlemoyer will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend Sue’s service are asked to meet at the Evergreen Mausoleum by 12:50 p.m. on Thursday.
