Sonja Patricia (Paskevich) Watts

Sonja P. Watts, age 85, Erwin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at her residence while she was surrounded by her family. She is a daughter of the late Steve and Anna Ortman Paskevich. Sonja was born and raised in Plymouth, Michigan before moving to Erwin in 1980.

She retired from Johnson City Medical Center Hospital after several years of service. Sonja was a Christian. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sonja enjoyed quilting, crocheting, embroidering, and cooking good Polish food. She loved to shop for hours on end. Sonja always welcomed company into her home and made sure they were fed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thomas Watts in November of 2005 and three half-sisters.

Sonja leaves behind to cherish many sweet memories of her, three children: Cindy Hamm, Cherie Watts, and Mitchell Watts (Connie Lukens), all of Erwin; two grandchildren: Mitchell Lee Watts (Stacy) and T.J. Watts; four great grandchildren: Chentae Shelton, Braxton Watts, Matthew Watts, and Kimber Watts; two brothers: Al Paskevich and John Paskevich; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Sonja’s graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 15, 2022, in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Reverend Karl Gasser will officiate. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m. on Monday.
