Sonja Patricia (Hensley) Hoilman

Sonja Hoilman, age 80, of the Spivey Mountain Community, Erwin passed away Thursday, July 24, 2025 at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Erwin and a daughter of the late Ralph and Annie Harris Hensley. She was a member of Mountain Dale Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Sonja was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-six years, Ancil "A. J." Hoilman, Jr. who passed away on June 6, 2017; one grandson, Stephen Craig Hoilman, Jr; one brother, Boyd Hensley and wife, Susan; one sister, Wanda Foster and husband, Wayne.

Sonja leaves behind to cherish her memories, two sons: Greg Hoilman, Steve Hoilman and wife, Elaine; one daughter, Angel McCurry and Randy White; three grandsons: Caleb Hoilman, Cade McCurry, Dawson McCurry and Katelynn; two granddaughters: Tia Hammitt, Lexie White Brotherton and Heath; one very special great grandson, Ashton McCurry, several other great grandchildren; special sister-in-law Polly Booth; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in the Hensley Family Cemetery, Spivey Mountain Community. Reverend Kevin Laws will officiate. Music will be provided by Allen and Jenny Morefield. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m. on Tuesday.
