Shirley Ann Bennett Bryant, age 82, Unicoi, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus on Saturday, March 25, 2023. She was born in Yancey County, North Carolina to the late Jeff and Emma Miller Bennett. Shirley lived most of her life in Unicoi.
She was employed at Erwin Physical Therapy where she has worked for the past thirty-eight years. Shirley loved going to church and she was a member of Woodby Hill Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, sewing, quilting, working puzzles and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Clyde Clifford Bryant on October 20, 2014 and her brother, Elmer Bennett on December 31, 2022.
Shirley leaves behind to cherish many wonderful memories, her four children: Danny Bryant (Lucy), of Unicoi, Damon Bryant (Robin), of Erwin, Darryl Bryant (Melissa) of Johnson City and Angie Boone (David), of Unicoi; eighteen grandchildren: Doug Boone, Dianna Boone Higgins, Heather Parsons, Josh Bryant, Chad Bryant, Kayla Foster, Matthew Bryant, Sydney Bryant, Jonathan Bryant, Troy Boone, Jeremy Bryant, Michelle Malone, Miranda Schultz, Garylee Willis, Donald Hurst, Melissa Gaddy, Jonathan Keesecker and Brian Keesecker; twenty-five great grandchildren; five sisters: Nola Houck (Bill), Lurley Bryant, Pauline McKinney (Leslie), Faye Bailey (Alvin) and Kaye Ruble (Ben); numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Mrs. Bryant’s family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel and other times at the residence, 525 Laughren Road, Unicoi. Reverend Bo Perkins and Reverend Charlie Foster will officiate the 6:00 p.m. funeral service. Committal will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Joshua Bryant, Matthew Bryant, Doug Boone, Troy Boone, Jonathan Bryant and Jeremy Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Higgins, Reverend Charlie Foster, Ramey Malone and Brian Parsons. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home by 9:30 a.m. on Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
