Sherley Miller Wilson, age 83, Erwin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Unicoi County Hospital while she was surrounded by her family. She was a native of Bee Log, NC and a daughter of the late Lee Quillen Miller and Ethel Leora Elliott Miller. Sherley moved to Washington D.C. in 1956, where she met her husband, Franklin before returning to Erwin in 1978.
While Sherley lived in Washington D.C. she was employed as a Clerk with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her family. Sherley was a member of Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending church and being involved with church activities.
She was a dedicated volunteer for the Clinchfield Senior Adult Center’s Meals on Wheels program for many years. Sherley also volunteered in the Evans Elementary School Clinic. She was a member of a bowling league for forty years. Sherley loved spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Sherley was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Franklin Delano Wilson on October 31, 2013; two sons: Steven Wilson in 1963 and Mark Wilson in 2011; five brothers: Ford Miller, Stewart Miller, Sherill Miller, Dan Miller and Lee Miller; one sister, Madge Phillips.
Sherley leaves behind to cherish her memory, one son, Brian Scott Wilson (Vicki), Erwin; one daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Lynn Johnson (Aron), Mosheim; two grandsons: Andrew Logan “Drew” Wilson (fiancé Sydney) and Steven Zachary Jefson; two step-grandchildren, Christy Broyles (Jason) and Jamie Sims (Shannon); two step-grandchildren: Riley and Ridge Broyles; daughter-in-law, Margaret Wilson; several nieces and nephews also survive.
A private family visitation and celebration of life service will be held for Sherley. Interment will be held at Roselawn Memory Garden.
