Sandra Macy Leonard Fair, age 83, of Erwin, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the Center on Aging and Health after a long battle with health issues. Sandy was born in Johnson City, Tennessee on July 10, 1940, to the late C.R. Fredrick Leonard and Macy Mae Riddle Leonard.
Following in her mother’s footsteps she was inspired to become a nurse. She attended the Hamlet Hospital School of Nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse. A noble profession where she started out working in the general community before moving on to work exclusively with severely developmentally disabled children.
Sandy will be remembered as a beautiful, courageous woman who loved her family, music and traveling when she was able.
She leaves her family to cherish her memory, her two children, Melanie Roberts, and Charles Fair (Angela); three grandchildren: Dylan Roberts, Nolan Roberts, and Shelby Fair; two great grandchildren: Olivia Roberts, and Gabriella Roberts.
Private family services will be held at Buffalo Valley Christian Church, which her grandfather helped to build. Minister Roland Whittimore will officiate Sandy's memorial service. Inurnment will be held in the Roselawn Memory Gardens.
