Russell Watts Obituary

Russell Bruce Watts, age 87, of Unicoi, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 02, 2026, at his residence while he was surrounded by his family. He was born in Erwin on February 11, 1938, to the late Paul Watts and Bonnie Marie Adams Watts.

Russell served his country for many years in the Tennessee Army National Guard. He retired from Nuclear Fuel Services after forty years of service.

Russell was a man of many talents. He had the knowledge of fixing electronics such as radios and TVs. Russell could rebuild automotive engines and was an excellent carpenter. He had a love for farming and gardening! Russell was always there to help family and friends in many situations. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends!

In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his dear wife of fifty-nine years, Trula Gaddy Watts on June 03, 2025; infant brother, Jimmy Farrell Watts; brothers: Charles Watts, and Delbert Wayne Watts; sister, Sueann Watts Sparks.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his only daughter, Belinda Jo Watts Hoyle, and husband, Dana; grandson, Daniel Hoyle; sisters: Margaret Watts Sagers (Jim), Geraldine Watts Southards, Louise Watts Jacobs (James), Carolyn Watts Smith (Larry), brothers: William Harold Watts (Sabrina), and Daniel Steve Watts; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to offer a very special thanks to the kind nurses and CNA’s with Amedisys Hospice for their professional care and kindness to our family.

Russell’s service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in the Evergreen Mausoleum. Minister Todd Edmondson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the mausoleum by 1:50 p.m. on Saturday.
