Robert "Bob" Eugene Kegley

Robert “Bob” Eugene Kegley, age 85, of Erwin, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus on Thursday, June 18, 2026, after an unexpected illness. He was born on December 05, 1940, in Wytheville, Virginia to the late Floyd and Marie Akers Kegley. Bob moved to Erwin when he was eighteen years old where he remained for the rest of his life.

He earned his Master’s Degree in Industrial Technology from ETSU. Bob retired from NFS after forty years of service where he worked as the Facility Maintenance Supervisor and Special Projects.

Bob was a faithful and devoted member of First Baptist Church in Erwin. For decades, Bob gave himself to the church in nearly every way a person can give. He chaired Budget & Finance, and Grounds, Property & Space. He served several terms on the Deacon Body and on the Board of Trustees. The truest measure of Bob was found in the hours no one saw in the church kitchen, his sleeves rolled up, serving the tea, water and lemonade which refreshed our fellowship. Also, he was quietly cleaning after everyone else had gone home.

Bob was a member of the Centennial Masonic Lodge #491 F&AM and he was a Jericho Shrine member.

Bob was a loving, devoted and faithful husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family dearly! Bob will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved him.  

Bob leaves behind to cherish many wonderful memories, his loving, devoted and faithful wife of sixty-three years, Brenda Miller Kegley; his two sons: Jeff Kegley and his wife, Lori of Huntsville, AL and Jonathan Kegley of Erwin; two grandchildren: Christopher Kegley and Reid Kegley; brother, Vance Kegley (Fran) of Bristol; sister-in-law, Mildred Silvers of Erwin; special nephew, Ken Silvers of Erwin; several other dear nieces and nephews also survive.

The Kegley family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the funeral home. Dr. Brian Scott will officiate Bob’s funeral service which will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons from First Baptist Church.
