Robert Tyler English, III

Robert T. English, III, age 89, of Johnson City, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Center on Aging and Health. He was a native of Richmond, Virginia and son of the late Robert T. English, Jr., and Elizabeth Mann English.

Mr. English had been residing in Johnson City for the past twenty years. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran who served his country honorably. During his military career he served as a Drill Instructor. Mr. English was awarded a Good Conduct Medal. He was also a member of the Marine Corps League.

He graduated from The College of William and Mary where he was a member of Theta Delta Chi Fraternity. Mr. English was a retired self-employed businessman, and Past President of the National Association of the Food and Beverage Recruiters.

He was an active sportsman and hobbyist. Mr. English formerly owned an airplane, and he was a rated Instrument Flight Instructor, an offshore sailor and sailboat owner, an NRA rated Expert Marksman, a Certified Scuba Diver, downhill skier, and motorcyclist. He enjoyed hiking, biking, and auditing college level courses. Mr. English was fluent in the German Language.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Mr. English is survived by his son, Keith English and his wife, Kayla; four grandchildren: Kaitlyn English, Matthew English, Hunter English, and McKenzie English; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A private family graveside service with military honors will be held in Mountain Home National Cemetery.
