Ricky Allen Dunbar, age 60, of Erwin, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, January 22, 2026, after a lengthy illness while he was surrounded by his family. He is the son of the late Dillie Watts Dunbar. Ricky was born in Greeneville and had been living in Erwin for thirty-four years.
Ricky was formerly employed at American Water Heater. He attended Chestoa Baptist Church until his health declined. Ricky was a godly man who loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus with all his heart.
He was a quite natured man who was very sweet and kindhearted. Ricky was a TN Vols fan.
In addition to his mother, Ricky was preceded in death by two brothers: Marvin Dunbar and Herbert “Cub” Dunbar; his special uncle, who helped raise him, Jimmy Reaves.
Ricky is survived by his loving and devoted wife of thirty-four years, Tammy Hampton Dunbar; his special aunt who helped raise him, Gladys Reaves of Greeneville; one brother, Lee Dunbar of Chuckey; father-in-law, Henry Hampton of Erwin; mother-in-law, Kathie Hampton of Erwin; brother-in-law, Daniel Hampton of Erwin; sister-in-law, Tonya Hampton Morris of Unicoi; special cousin, Sandy Southerland (Wayne) of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Ricky’s family will receive friends on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Darrell Shipman and Pastor Jacob Shelton will officiate the 2:00 p.m. funeral service. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
