Reba (Jaynes) Hollifield

Reba Jaynes Hollifield, age 84, of Erwin, went to her heavenly home on Friday, February 14, 2025. She is the daughter of the late Jim and Rosa Lee Edwards Jaynes. Reba was born and raised in Nebo, North Carolina, but lived most of her life in Erwin.

She was of the Baptist Faith. Reba was a dedicated homemaker who took exceptional care of her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Reba enjoyed crafting for her grandchildren. She was an excellent seamstress and costumer having made costumes for her children’s school plays. Also, she made costumes for her grandchildren over the years. She liked working in her yard and growing a flower garden. Reba recited poetry and sang folk songs. She was always in charge of all family holiday gatherings making sure everyone had plenty to eat and a good time celebrating together.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Paulette Hollifield Ayers on February 01, 2022; and one sister, Jeanette Noblitt.

She leaves behind to cherish many wonderful memories, her loving and devoted husband of sixty-six years, Paul Kenneth Hollifield; two daughters: Kathy Shelton and husband, Reverend Craig Shelton of Flag Pond, Christine Hughes and husband, Richard of Erwin; four grandchildren: Nikki Willis (Lyle), Candace Shelton Simerly (Jon), Amanda Hollifield (Joshua Cavinder), Kendall Shelton Muhn (Daniel), and Camille Boccia (Lex); eight great grandchildren: Kylee Muhn, Keri Muhn, Journey Simerly, Johanna Simerly, Gavin Willis, Ziya Boccia, Eszie Boccia, and Isaiah Boccia; one brother, Jimmy Jaynes; one sister, Doris Wise (Forrest), all of Nebo, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 12:00 noon until the hour of service. Revered Craig Shelton will officiate the 1:00 p.m. funeral service. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
