Pearl Clayton, age 99, Erwin, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Cornerstone Village. She is a daughter of the late Thomas Emory and Kate Sparks Ray. Pearl was a native of Flag Pond and a life-long resident of Unicoi County.
Pearl was retired from Southern Pottery as a painter. She enjoyed sewing and quilting for many people. She was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Willard Clayton in 1975; one son, Ricky Clayton; one brother, Paul Ray.
Pearl leaves behind to cherish her memory, one son, David Clayton and wife, Wanda; two daughters: Patricia King and husband, Duane, Mary Farrington and husband, Rodney; three sisters: Lily Elliott, Thelma Tinker, Lorraine Ray; eight grandchildren: including special granddaughter, Alice Jones, who lived with and cared for Pearl, Crystal Harris and husband, David, Jacquelyn Higgins, Ashley Nicole Clayton, David Lee Clayton, Dustin James Clayton, Jamie Farrington, Kim Farrington; two great grandchildren: Carrie Estep Roberts, Bradley Farrington; three great-great grandchildren: Isaiah Lee Roberts, Destiny Renee Roberts, Willow Ruthie-Anne Franklin; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon-1:00PM Thursday, September 10, 2020 in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday, September 10, 2020 at the Evergreen Mausoleum Portico. Reverend Kevin Laws will officiate. Pallbearers will be David Clayton, Sr., Roger Tinker, Zane Black, David Clayton, Jr., Dustin Clayton, James Ratliff. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:00 PM Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
