Pauline S. Smith, 101 of Erwin, Tennessee passed away peacefully on January 30, 2023, in Lititz, Pennsylvania. Pauline was born on April 20, 1921, in Erwin, Tennessee. She was the daughter of William and Hettie Slagle.
She attended the Ninth Street Baptist Church where she volunteered in the childcare area and sang in the choir. Pauline was a master of southern cooking, and she had a green thumb that resulted in many a lovely flower garden.
Pauline and Bill enjoyed a long marriage. They enjoyed spending time together exploring East Tennessee and the surrounding states. In fact, they wore out many white Toyota pickups in the
process. Bill commented that he would often find a comfortable place to sit while Pauline was shopping. He even jokingly remarked that he would tell St. Peter that he would wait on the bench outside Heaven until “Polly” got there and they would go in together. Pauline and Bill requested that they be committed together. Now they can both go into Heaven together.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William “Bill” H. Smith of Erwin; daughter, Darnell Norris, and son, Larry Norris.
Left to cherish her memory: son, Greg Smith and wife Pamela Smith of Lititz, Pennsylvania, and granddaughter, Lauren Smith of Los Angeles, California.
The Smith family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on February 10th, 2023, in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. following the visitation.
