Nellie Jean Anders Williams, age 84, of Erwin, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on Saturday, July 20, 2024. She is a daughter of the late William “Bill” and Mabel Jewel Anders. Nellie was a lifelong resident of Erwin.
She was a homemaker and a member of Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church. Nellie loved playing Rummy with her son, talking with her neighbors, watching and feeding the birds, solving crossword puzzles, watching NASCAR, listening to preaching and gospel music on her radio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Williams in 1972; her grandson, Terry Tipton, Jr., on June 11, 2021; infant brother, Arnold Anders.
Nellie leaves behind to cherish her memory, four children: Debbie Tipton (Terry Sr.), Sandy Riddle, Mike Sams, all of Erwin, Kathy Huskins (David) of Burnsville; six grandchildren: Justin Riddle, Tiffany Rice, Tyler Huskins, Travis Huskins, Jeremy Sams, and Michelle Sams; six great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; special friend, Sherry Marchese.
The Williams family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024, in the funeral home chapel. Bishop John Edwards will officiate Nellie’s 1:00 p.m. funeral service. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Charles Miller and his staff as well as Gentiva Hospice staff and Kim who was the best nurse ever!
