Mike Lewis

David Michael “Mike” Lewis, age 70, of Flag Pond, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at his residence while he was surrounded by his family. He was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and son of the late Lloyd and Ruby Tilson Lewis.

Mike retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation after forty-three years of service where he was a Highway Supervisor. He was an active member, Sunday School teacher and Deacon at Clear Branch Baptist Church.

Mike was a member of the Centennial Masonic Lodge #491 where he served as Past Master and Secretary. He was a member of the Jericho Shriner’s Temple where he served as Treasurer and Road Runner.

Mike enjoyed cooking and has shared his delicious recipes in various cookbooks. He had a couple nicknames which he was affectionately known by “Cookie” and “Weasel”.

Mike was a loving and devoted husband, dad, papaw, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mike leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of fifty-two years, Judy Phillips Lewis; his daughter, Bethany Lewis Bailey and her husband, Tim, of Erwin; five grandchildren: Libby, Amelia, Max, Greta, and Laurel; brother, Jimmy Lynn Lewis (Sarah) of Cleveland, TN; niece, Sabrina Coleman (Dale); great nieces: Carly Coleman, and Marina Coleman.

The Lewis family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Clear Branch Baptist Church. Mike's memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Sam Adams and Reverend Craig Shelton officiating. Masonic Rites will be performed by the Centennial Masonic Lodge #491. A private family inurnment service will be held at Moore Cemetery.
