Michael “Moose” Ray Allen, age 53, Erwin, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, June 18, 2022. He was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and son of the late Raymond Allen and Glenna Huskins Allen.
Moose was employed at Tri-State Steel Erectors where he worked as a Rod Buster. While he was growing up, he attended Canah Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Moose loved being outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting guns. He was an avid pool player.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Allen and one nephew, Erick Allen.
Moose leaves behind to cherish his memory, one son, Jacob Allen, Dana, NC; his brother, Greg Allen, Telford; nieces and nephews: Zack Allen, Dakota Allen, Lindsey Allen and Hayden Allen; uncles and aunts: Floyd Huskins, Bob Huskins, Jr. (Sonja), Jessie Batts and Wanda Laws (Rick); his good friend, Amy Shelton; numerous cousins and friends also survive.
Moose’s family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Noon on Friday, June 24, 2022, in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Noah Taylor will officiate the 12:00 p.m. funeral service. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Robbie Casey, Lee Huskins, Zack Allen, Dakota Allen, Scott Whitson and Kevin Huskins will serve as pallbearers.
