Michael Lee Elzea

Michael Lee Elzea, age 71, Jonesborough, Tennessee, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, September 5, 2021 in the Johnson City Medical Center after a short battle with Leukemia. 

Mike was born December 27, 1949, in Detroit Michigan and was preceded in death by his parents Leroy Elzea and Marguerite Voss Elzea; his first wife, Marilyn Beaver Elzea; his second wife of thirty-eight years, Mary Shannon Elzea in October of 2013; his son, Eric Michael Elzea in March 2021. 

Mike was a graduate of Redford Union High School, and Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan. 

He worked for many years as a Physical Therapist in Cheboygan, Michigan as well as Hospitals in Virginia and retired from his profession in Johnson City, Tennessee. 

Mike was a loving and caring father and grandfather. 

Mike is survived by his sister, Kathleen Elzea Philbin, Brighton Michigan; two grandsons: David Elzea and Jared Elzea, Gray, Tennessee; daughter-in-law and caregiver, Cynthia Elzea, all from Gray Tennessee; niece, Kristen Philbin and nephew, Gordon Philbin, Brighton, Michigan. Mike is also survived by Cheyenne Zeolia, whom he considered his granddaughter. 

It was Mike’s wish that his body be cremated and remains be placed with his late wife Mary Elzea.
