Mary Ruth (Townsend) Manis

Mary Ruth Townsend Manis, age 74, of Church Hill, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Holston Valley Hospital. She was born on February 25, 1951, to the late Dennis and Ada Bell Tyree Townsend. She lived most of her life in Johnson City.

Mary was of the Baptist Faith. She enjoyed springtime and growing flowers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Goforth.

Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory, five children: Steve Goforth, Angela Hairston, Buddy Goforth and wife, Crissy, Misty Johnson, Spencer Nelson; seven grandchildren: Jessice Goforth, Crystal Shelton, Katie Losey, Stephanie Goforth, Kallie Goforth, Buddy Jr Goforth, Emily Grace Goforth; four great grandchildren: Tucker, Nikolas, Mason, Lylah; special cousin, Barbara Wilcox and family.

Mary’s family will receive friends Friday, April 11, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home.
