Mary Erwin Obituary

Mary Virginia (White) Erwin, age 70, Erwin, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 7, 2020. Mary was born on October 7, 1949 in Erwin. She was a lifelong resident of Erwin and a daughter of the late John and Marie Brummett White. Mary was of the Christian Faith. She married Jerry Erwin on December 20, 1969. Mary spent eighteen years as Head Chef at E's Mart and was known for her secret chili recipe. She didn't know a stranger! Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and especially looked forward to Friday nights where she spent time with her sisters at their "sewing" party. She was talented at making quilts and loved making them for her family. Mary took treats to the residents of the local nursing homes weekly, as well as driving her friends around town. If Mary was unable to make the delivery, she would have her grandson, Jefferson deliver for her. She worried about everyone and took on the "mother" role to everyone she became close to. Mary wanted to make sure everyone had what they needed. She will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Hobe and Homer White; one granddaughter, Brittany Erwin. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of fifty years, Jerry Kyle Erwin; one son: Jimmy Erwin (Tosha); five grandchildren: Jefferson Erwin, Brandon Estep, Logan Edwards, Sabrina Ingram (Austin) and Justin Engle; three great grandchildren: Mason and Emmalee Ingram, Gabriel Estep (Due April 2020); one brother: Kenneth White (Ruth); three sisters: Kay Peterson (Jerry), Brenda Robinette and Wanda Etheridge (Bill); special friends: Linda Willis, Dona Erwin and Thomas Woods; special cousin, Herman Booker; special pet, Angel (Toto); several nieces and nephews; many other friends and family members also survive. The family would like to extend a special thank you to EMS Crew, Southside Volunteer Fire Department and Unicoi County Sheriff Department Deputies. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Danny Hughes, Reverend Bill Etheridge and Reverend Earl Edwards will officiate at the 7:00 PM service. Music will be provided by family and friends. Committal will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jefferson Erwin, Brandon Estep, Logan Edwards, Justin Engle, Thomas Woods, Aaron Peterson, Joshua Peterson, Jeremiah Peterson, Stacy Wigand, Matthew Willis and David Walker. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 PM on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made in memory of Mary to: Unicoi County Animal Shelter, 185 N. Industrial Drive, Erwin, TN 37650.
