Mary Lou Parker Banner, age 79, of Erwin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at her residence while she was surrounded by her family. She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and daughter of the late Roy and Ola Lance Parker.
Mary was a homemaker. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and Mary read her Bible all the way through three different times. Mary enjoyed cooking and loved her family dearly.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of fifty-six years, Jim Banner; two sisters: Dorothy Higginbotham and Ann Parker.
Mary leaves behind to cherish many precious memories, her brother, Bill Parker (Linda) of Jonesborough; her three children: Sandra Carver, of the home, John Banner, Sr. (Margaret) of Erwin and Paul Banner (Debbie) of Erwin; three grandchildren: Jamey Carver, John Banner, Jr. (Stacey) and Wendy Champouillon, all of Erwin; her great grandchildren: Landon Banner, Riley Banner and Julian Champouillon; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mary’s graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023, in the Roselawn Memory Gardens. Preacher Drew Leonard will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 p.m. on Thursday.
