Marshall Foster, age 74, of Erwin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 07, 2025, at his residence, while he was surrounded by his family. He was a lifelong resident of Erwin and a son of Greta Price Foster and the late Glenn Foster.
Marshall retired from Cates Music where he worked as a sound technician for many years. He attended Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church.
Marshall enjoyed woodworking, making knives, hunting and fishing. He loved talking on his CB Radio where he was known as “Wooden Nickel.”
In addition to his father, Marshall was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Strickland Foster; son, Randy Foster; daughter, Sandie Foster; father-in-law, Bob Strickland; mother-in-law, Sally Strickland; brothers-in-law, Randy Strickland and John Hensley.
In addition to his mother, Greta Price Foster, Marshall leaves behind to cherish his memory, his two sons: Joe Foster (Tina McNair) of Elizabethton and Glenn Foster of Erwin; grandchildren: Gregory Franklin, Whitlee Langham (Micah), Dakota Foster, Destiney Miller, Alisa Bishop, Sunshine Foster, and Tristan Foster; four great grandchildren; sister, Tanya Bradford (Kevin) of Erwin; sisters-in-law: Judy Hensley, and Lori Franklin (Alan); brothers-in-law: Steve Strickland (Tonya), and Tim Strickland (Tracy); several nieces, nephews, and CB Radio friends also survive.
The Foster family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the funeral home. Pastor Noah Taylor will officiate the 1:00 p.m. funeral service. Interment will follow in Martin’s Creek Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
