Mark Allen Laws, age 58, of Santee, South Carolina, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, June 12, 2026. He was born on April 8, 1968, in Erwin, Tennessee to the late Oren Gene Laws and Wilma Jean Dockins Laws.
Mark moved to Charleston, South Carolina, where he developed a lifelong love of music, boating, horseback riding, dancing and entertaining. He attended the South Carolina Governor’s School for singing and later Charleston Southern University.
Mark was the General Manager for Travel and Leisure, Club Wyndham Lake Marion, where he received many accolades including the prestigious Crystal Pineapple Award. Throughout his career, Mark was well respected in the hospitality industry, helping open several five-star Wynn properties in Las Vegas and creating memorable experiences for guests wherever he was. Also, he was the owner of Santee Boat Rentals.
Mark never met a stranger! He was generous, loyal, quick-witted and had a voice worthy of Broadway. He loved sharing stories of his travels and dancing with his favorite Shag dance partner, Donna (DD). Mark was a talented chef and entertainer whose legendary parties were filled with delicious food that had a way of bringing people together.
Mark is survived by his brother, David Laws of Jonesborough; sister, Becky Hardin (Norman) of Erwin; nephew, Eric; niece, Bethany and Riley (Chad); daughter, Jessica H. Snyder (Anthony); son, Thomas G. Howie, IV (Petrina), grandchildren: Hunter H. Snyder, Addison K. Snyder, Blakely E. Snyder, Rylie B. Snyder, Aiden F. Howie, and Kaia R. Howie; his close friends: Rusty Brunson, Janice Roberts, and Donna Thames (DD); He adored his fur babies: Millie, Cookie, and Teddy.
Mark’s graveside service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Laws officiating. Interment will follow where Mark will be laid to rest beside his grandparents. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 p.m. on Friday.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at a later date in Santee, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made in memory of Mark to: Saving Animals Southern Style Rescue and Sanctuary in Elloree, South Carolina.
