Margaret Yeager Obituary

Margaret Ann Linville Yeager, age 86, passed away peacefully at home in Knoxville, Tennessee on June 13, 2024.  She was surrounded by her family as she entered the presence of her Savior following a brave and courageous journey with Parkinson’s Disease.

Margaret Ann was one of ten children born to Nathaniel David and Bessie Beatrice Tapp Linville on August 30, 1937.  Her parents set a godly example of a Christ-centered life which led her to follow Christ at a young age. One of her favorite Bible verses was Romans 12:18, “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”

Margaret Ann was known by her family as Ann. She was a graduate of Unicoi County High School, Class of 1955.  She enjoyed athletics and was the captain of the women’s basketball team and cheerleading squad.  Following graduation, she worked in banking for several years and later at JC Penney Company where she met her husband, Donald Kent Yeager.

Margaret Ann worked outside the home periodically, but she primarily loved being a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother.  Margaret Ann loved yardwork, gardening, bird watching, shopping, cooking, baking and Tennessee basketball.  She enjoyed entertaining and had a way of making birthdays and holidays extra special.

Margaret Ann and Don have been members of Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee for many years.  Her daily routine consisted of Don bringing her coffee each morning while she enjoyed her daily Bible readings, devotionals, Bible studies, and hymns.

Margaret Ann will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Marion Linville, H. C. Linville, Robert “Buster” Linville, James “Jimmy” Linville; Lucille Linville Piercy, Betty Linville Black; brothers-in-law, Fred Tipton, Ray McInturff; sisters-in-law, Helen Linville, Pauline Linville; Daphne Linville; daughter-in-law, Linda Marie Yeager and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived her husband of 60 years, Donald Kent Yeager of Knoxville, TN; son, Nicholas Jay Yeager of Clinton, TN; daughter, Kelly Yeager Turner (Mark) of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Maggie Yeager (Tommy Wood) of Huntsville, AL, D.J. Yeager of Clinton, TN and three great grandchildren, Oliver Yeager, Levi Wood and Ruby Wood.  She is also survived by three sisters, Marie Linville Ramsey (Jerry Ramsey) of Unicoi, TN, Eula Linville Tipton of Johnson City, TN and Kay Linville McInturff of Unicoi, TN; sisters-in-law, Ruth Linville of Unicoi, TN and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation to UT Hospice who provided Margaret Ann and the family with medical care and support for one year.  A special thank you to the in-home private caregivers, over the past few years, who supported the family through this journey (Liana Pesterfield, Mindy Baker, Peggy Norris, Courtney Waters and April Brown).  The family is especially grateful for the close friends and neighbors who volunteered their time to sit with Margaret Ann and provide transportation for Don to medical appointments.

The Yeager family will receive friends on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 12:00 noon until 1:30 pm at Unicoi Methodist Church. Margaret’s funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Charles Maynard officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The University of Tennessee Hospice, The University of Tennessee Cole Center for Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders, Cokesbury United Methodist Church, and Unicoi Methodist Church.

“And as I go along life’s way, I am reaping better than I sowed.

I’m drinking from my saucer, ‘cause my cup has overflowed. "
