Lucy Tolley Woodby, age 92, Unicoi, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Center on Aging and Health, Erwin. Lucy was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Jesse and Hattie Byrd Tolley.
Lucy was a homemaker. She enjoyed farming and growing flowers. Lucy was a member of Woodby Hill Freewill Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years Nathan W. Woodby on May 23, 2014; one grandson, Thomas Simerly; one infant brother, Leslie Joe Tolley; one brother, Raymond and Judy Tolley; one sister, Minerva and Claude Reed; and her son-in-law, Frank Bailey.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Woodby and wife, Beverly of Unicoi; two daughters: Teresa Simerly and husband, Max, of Unicoi; Dianna Bailey, of Unicoi; one grandson, David Woodby and wife, Sarina; one sister-in-law, Bessie Hill and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Unicoi Funeral Home. Pastor Lester “Bo” Perkins will officiate Lucy’s 3:00 p.m. funeral service. A private committal will be held at a later date in the Mountain Home National Cemetery.
