Lucille (Tolley) Woodby

Lucille Tolley Woodby, age 77, of Erwin, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus on Monday, March 24, 2025, while she was surrounded by her family at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Erwin and daughter of the late Claude Tolley and Ruth Bennett Morgan.

Lucille retired from Empire Furniture after thirty loyal years of service. She was a faithful member of Hulen Baptist Church. Lucille loved attending church, and she loved her church family. She enjoyed reading the Bible and listening to gospel music. Lucille lived her life here on this earth bearing the precious fruits of the Spirit while keeping her eyes on Heaven where she knew priceless treasures were being laid up for her. She was a true prayer warrior. Lucille was a wonderful mother, sister and friend, she was truly one of a kind!

Lucille was a selfless woman who devoted her life to helping others. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 KJV

In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by two brothers: Junior and Robert Tolley; one sister, Helen Williams; two brothers-in-law: Fredrick Huskins and Lee Sturgill.

Lucille leaves behind to cherish many wonderful memories, her son, Reverend Cecil Scott Woodby and wife, Rebecca of Erwin; three sisters: Carolyn Avelar (Bob), Evelyn Huskins, and Bonnie Sturgill; granddaughter, Sarah Coffie; special niece whom Lucille thought of as her daughter, Kathy Lee; very special friend whom Lucille loved like a sister, Patsy Sparks; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The Woodby family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025, at the funeral home. Reverend Cecil Scott Woodby and Reverend Ferrell Peterson will officiate Lucille’s 1:00 p.m. funeral service. Music will be provided by Sharon Mason and Darrell Broome. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
