Lorraine Hensley Harrelson, age 79, of Erwin, formerly of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the Center on Aging and Health. She was born in Madison County, Tennessee to the late Arnold Hensley, Sr. and Eileen Ingle Hensley.
Lorraine met her husband, Jerry, at a friend’s birthday party. They started dating, fell in love and were married in Jacksonville, Florida on December 28, 1964. She lived most of her life in Florida where she raised her family.
Lorraine attended Mandarin Presbyterian Church. She led a Bible Study from her home in Mandarin for several years.
Lorraine retired from Dekalb County Chamber of Commerce where she was employed as a secretary for many years. She was very artistically gifted. Lorraine wrote and sang songs. She was a painter as well, focusing on still paintings of flowers.
Lorraine enjoyed traveling with her husband and one of their favorite trip’s was to Europe where they visited Italy, England, France, and Switzerland. While her boys were growing up, they would take their boat out on Lake Lanier in Georgia. Lorraine was not a strong swimmer; however, she had a strong “Doggy Paddle”! Her sons were never scared because Lorraine reassured them as long as we’re together we will never drown.
She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who loved her family dearly and Lorraine reminded them several times a day just how much she did love them!
Lorraine leaves behind to cherish many wonderful memories, her loving and devoted husband of sixty-one years, Jerry Littleton Harrelson; her two sons: Jonathan Harrelson and Justin Harrelson, all of Jacksonville; her two brothers: Charles Hensley and Arnold Hensley, Jr.; several nieces and nephews also survive.
