Lois Powers Obituary

Lois White Powers 4/18/1932 - 3/18/2020 Lois White Powers, age 87, Erwin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at the Center On Aging & Health where she had resided since September 2019. Ms. Powers was a lifelong resident of Erwin and was the youngest daughter of the late Clyde and Dorothy Bailey White. She retired from CSX Railroad with over forty years of employment. In addition to her parents, Ms. Powers is preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-four years, Gerald Powers on October 24, 2018; one brother, Leonard White; two sisters: Lola White Akers and Lelia White Parsons; one special nephew, Richard Parsons. Lois White Powers has left behind to cherish her memory, sisters-in-law: Etta Norton, Mary Kay Broyles, Myra Harris and Rebecca Sayer; brother-in-law, David Powers; nieces: Barbara Green, Jeannine Cheshire; nephew, Leonard Parsons; special friend and loving caregiver, Carol Bowman. The family would like to express their sincere thank you to the Center On Aging & Health for the love and care that was shown to Lois and to Amedisys Hospice during her last couple of weeks. It was the wish of both Gerald and Lois to be cremated. Lois had been in possession of the urn containing Gerald's ashes, holding this until the time came when both urns could be buried together. A graveside memorial service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery at a later time. This service will be to honor and remember the lives of both Gerald and Lois. As both their ashes return to this earth together, their spirits are now together for all eternity.
