Lois (Shelton) Metcalf

Lois Shelton Metcalf, age 86, Flag Pond, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Ursie and Sarah Duskey Shelton.

Lois retired from Morrill Motors in 2005 after twenty-eight loyal years of service. She attended Sweetwater Church of God for many years and Temple Hill Church of God which her late son, Jimmy founded. Lois loved the Lord, attending church and her church family.

She will be greatly missed by many. No matter where she was or what was going on in life, she had a smile on her face. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Many people spent time at her home eating her “famous biscuits and gravy”.

Lois enjoyed tending to her flowers, talking on the phone, and even at 86, continued to use social media as a way to connect with friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, Harvey Metcalf in 1997; her son, Jimmy Metcalf on July 24, 2018; grandson, Harvey Joshua Metcalf.

Survivors include two sons: Arthur Metcalf (Phyllis) and Robert Metcalf (Harriett), all of Flag Pond; daughter-in-law, Geraldine Metcalf, Erwin; two brothers: Ursie “Skeet” Shelton and Ferd Shelton, both of Florida; two sisters: Carolyn King and Eunice Tweed, both of Flag Pond; ten grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 15, 2021, in the Ray Cemetery. Grandson-in-law, Clarence Blackwell and Reverend Craig Shelton will officiate. Pallbearers will be J.P. Metcalf, Scott Metcalf, Jason Metcalf, Gary Carter, Arthur Metcalf, Jr. and Jesse Metcalf. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 P.M. on Friday.
