He is a son of Kay Linville McInturff and the late Ray McInturff, who passed away on February 20, 1998. Larkey lived most of his life in Unicoi and Johnson City before moving to Apopka eight years ago.

He participated in several mission trips to Moldova where he distributed shoes and backpacks to orphanages. Larkey drove the youth and adults of Calvary Baptist Church to Brooklyn, New York for seventeen years to participate in inner-city mission work. During their time in Brooklyn, they would serve meals to the homeless and teach the children about Jesus.

Larkey began working with the Baptist Disaster Relief Teams in Tennessee and he continued serving with this ministry after he moved to Florida. He drove the church bus for Trinity Christian School during the summer, taking the children on field trips throughout the Orlando area.
