Ephraim Lane Meadows, age 66, of Flag Pond, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 17, 2023, at his residence. He is a son of the late Richard Bynum Meadows and Zora Imogene Haynes Meadows.
Lane lived in North Carolina before moving to Unicoi County forty-five years ago.
Lane was a lifetime Master Electrician, and he was employed as a licensed electrician at MB Haynes Electric in Asheville, North Carolina.
He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Theology from Liberty University. Lane loved his country, and he was a proud United States Navy Veteran. He served his country honorably during Desert Storm. Lane was a member of the Navy Seabees. During his time in the Navy, he was awarded the Southwest Asia Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Navy “E” with Bronze Star and M16 Expert Rifle Medal.
Lane loved the Lord with all his heart, and he was a member of Higgins Chapel Baptist Church in Flag Pond. He enjoyed studying and teaching the Bible.
Lane was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was always in a good mood and had a very humorous personality.
In addition to his parents, Lane was preceded in death by his only sibling, Bynum Neil Meadows; brother-in-law, Mark Bailey.
Lane leaves behind to treasure many precious memories, his loving wife of thirty-five years, Kathy Bailey Meadows; four children: Tabitha White (Billy) of Erwin, Matthew Meadows (Emily) of Bakersville, North Carolina, Candace Meadows (fiancé, Freddie Lyle) of Unicoi and Nicholas Meadows of Flag Pond; six grandchildren: Dalton White, Sammy White, Annie White, Porter Huskins, Alyssa Meadows and Thea Cooper; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Carolyn Bailey; sister-in-law, Reva Carter of Erwin; brothers-in-law: Bill Bailey and Tim Bailey (Deana) all of Flag Pond; three nieces: Fatima Wood, Carrie Jo Valdese and Kimberly Cantrell; several great nephews also survive.
The Meadows family will receive friends on Monday, November 27, 2023, from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in the Higgins Chapel Cemetery. Lane’s graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Adam Miller and Pastor Edward Hoyle officiating. Military Honors will be rendered by DAV Chapter 39 Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Bill Bailey, Tim Bailey, Andy Valdese, Dean Cantrell, Billy White and Freddie Lyle. Honorary pallbearers will be Porter Huskins, Dalton White, and Sammy White.
