Kermit James Foster, age 87, Erwin, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was a life-long resident of Erwin, and a son of the late Arvie and Iva Guinn Foster.
Kermit honorably served with the United States Army, in the Big Red 1 1st Infantry Division during the Korean war. He was retired from the TVA as an electrician after many years of service. Kermit was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Ima Jean Foster; two brothers: Arvie Foster, Jr. and Jerry Collins Foster; two sisters: Mabel Mae Hensley and Helen Vicars.
Kermit leaves behind to cherish his memory one son, Tim Foster (Tina); one daughter, Alaina Maupin (Brian); three brothers: Quentin Foster (Connie), Jack Foster (Brenda), Royce Wayne Foster (Mary); two sisters: Renda Lee Lowe (Allen), Yvonne Ledford; five grandchildren: Cassie Foster, Bailey Maupin, Elijah Maupin, Eva Wilson, Ashley Foster; four great grandchildren; special neighbors, Paul and Wendy Hensley and their sons, Trevor, Nicholas, and Grant; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, September 17, 2020 under the portico of the Evergreen Mausoleum. Reverend Larry Wiley will officiate. Military Honors will be rendered by the Carter County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Brian Maupin, Elijah Maupin, David Vicars, Carl Harris, Jr., Tim Miller, Dave Byrd, and Paul Hensley. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:55 PM Thursday.
