John Wallace Giep

John Wallace Giep, Sr., age 84, Flag Pond, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2020 at his residence. He is the son of the late Harold and Naomi Wright Giep. John was a native of New London, Connecticut, having lived in Iowa and Florida before moving to Tennessee in 2002.

He honorably served in the US Airforce and Airforce reserves from May 11, 1955 until May 10, 1963, where he received the Good Conduct Medal and was a member of the 53rd Fighter Group.

Throughout out his life, John was an entrepreneur owning several businesses, which included multiple plant nurseries, an Aviary for exotic birds and animals. He worked for Cape Canaveral as an Electronics Technician.

John loved to create and build new things; he always loved a challenge. He enjoyed traveling, camping, boating and was once a licensed pilot and a certified diver.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jeannie.

John leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of eighteen years, Barbara Moore Giep; two sons: John W. Giep, Jr. and wife, Susan of FL, Mark Giep of LA; one daughter, Deborah L. Giep and partner, Debbie Freeman of NC; five grandsons: Nicholas Giep and fiancé, Cheyenne, Alex Giep and fiancé, Sonya, Mark Giep, Jr., Christopher Tate Giep, Shane Giep; two granddaughters: Tabatha Dyer, Notasha Gautro; several great grandchildren also survive.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Sweetwater Church of God. Reverend Craig Shelton will officiate.
