Jimmy Tucker Obituary

Jimmy Vernon Tucker, age 76, of Jonesborough, passed away tragically due to flooding of the Nolichucky River from remnants of Hurricane Helene. He was born in Moultrie, Georgia on November 08, 1947. Jimmy lived in Miami for several years before moving to East Tennessee thirty-eight years ago.

He was a United States Army Veteran having served his country honorably. During his military service he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and Expert Marksmen (Rifle) Badge.

Jimmy was an employee of Champion Chevrolet in Johnson City. He was of the Christian Faith. Jimmy loved cars which he enjoyed buying and trading over the years. He previously worked as an auto mechanic. Jimmy liked to watch his favorite football team which was the Miami Dolphins. He loved his dogs and liked taking them on road trips.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Lori Tucker Bryan; brother, Buddy Tucker; two sisters: Faye Horton and Joanne Massengill.

Jimmy was married to his wife, Nancy Pfau Tucker for forty-four years. They met while they were both serving in the Army. Nancy was home with Jimmy on Friday, September 27, 2024, when the flood took their home, she has not been located yet.

Jimmy is survived by his son, Jimmy Allen Tucker, of the home; brother-in-law, Taylor Horton; nephew, Johnny Horton; niece, Connie Massengill Brown; two of his three dogs who were in the home, Buddy and Blue also survive.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 28, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 in Mountain Home National Cemetery Historic Site. Military Honors will be rendered by DAV Chapter 39 Honor Guard. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:55 p.m. on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, Jimmy’s son would greatly appreciate donations to be made at the funeral home to help with the unexpected funeral expenses.
