Jerry Stephen Arwood

Jerry Stephen Arwood, age 83, of Erwin, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the Center on Aging and Health. He was a lifelong resident of Erwin and son of the late Welzia Arwood and Mae Adams Arwood.

Jerry was a member of Southside Freewill Baptist Church. He retired from NN Ball and Roller where he worked in the Maintenance Department for many years.

Jerry enjoyed tinkering with electronics and working on motors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Pauley Arwood on April 21, 2014; three brothers: Howard, Clarence, and Carl Arwood; two sisters: Betty “Marie” Arwood and Eloise Lafollette.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, one daughter, Lori McCoury and husband, Roy of Erwin; one grandson, Isaiah McCoury of Unicoi; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the funeral home. Pastor Kevin Laws will officiate Jerry’s funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
