Irene Howell Huskins, age 89, of Unicoi, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Christian Care Center of Unicoi County. She is a daughter of the late Raymond and Hamie Howell Huskins. Irene was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County.
She was formerly employed at Industrial Garment and Magnavox. Irene was a member of Canah Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing with the church trio and participating in various church activities.
Irene loved to grow her vegetable garden and tend to her chickens.
In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Bobby Huskins on November 02, 2008; one brother, Jack Howell; two sisters: Pearl Edney and Sharon Wallace.
Irene leaves behind to cherish her memory, her two sons: Eric Huskins of Johnson City and Jerry Huskins (Betty) of Erwin; two sisters: Phyllis Harris (Doug Saylor) and Gladys Johnson (Ray), all of Erwin; four grandchildren: Leslie Neil (Nick), Jeremiah Huskins (Ginger), Jerad Huskins (Missy) and Cody Huskins; eight great grandchildren: Andrew Hayden, Maddie Huskins, Gabriel Neil, Bailey Neil, Alexander Neil, Brody Huskins, Lincoln Huskins and Porter Huskins; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Irene’s funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, in the Evergreen Mausoleum. Pastor Jeff Hammer will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the mausoleum by 1:55 p.m.
