Imogene "Jean" Kathy (Ward) Tarlton

Imogene “Jean” Ward Tarlton, age 87, of Unicoi, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Christian Care Center of Unicoi County.  She was born in Greeneville to the late Howard and Libby Davis Ward. Jean lived most of her life in Unicoi, where she raised her family.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and canning. Jean grew a vegetable garden and tended to her flower garden with great care.

Jean liked spending time with her family and her bible study friends. Most of all she enjoyed her peaceful solitude.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jack” Tarlton on November 19, 1994; three brothers: Jack, Donald, and Arnold Ward.

She leaves behind to cherish many precious memories, her two daughters: Charlotte Street (Chuck) of Unicoi and Sherry Bailey of Erwin; grandsons: Adam Street (Gina) and Luke Street (Lisa); five great grandchildren: Alexa, Anna, Ada, Nora, and Charlie Street; two sisters: Volena Cox (David) and Lois Tarlton, all of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Christian Care Center of Unicoi County for the excellent care given to Jean and her family.

A private family graveside service was held on Thursday morning, July 02, 2026, in the Roselawn Memory Gardens. Jean was laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Jack.
