Ida (Willis) Edwards

Ida Willis Edwards, age 95, Flag Pond, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a life-long resident of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late John Perry and Ardilla Foster Willis.

Ida retired from Morrill Motors after forty-three years of service. She was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church. Ida had been a member of the Eastern Star for fifty-eight years. She enjoyed quilting, reading, needlepoint, and raising a garden. She was well known for selling her famous Apple Pies and Apple Butter at the Apple Festival.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd G. “Mutt” Edwards in 1982; her son, Kent Alan Edwards; infant granddaughter, Andreah Edwards; one brother and four sisters.  

Ida leaves behind to cherish her memory two grandsons: Byron Edwards (Elizabeth), Alan “Ozie” Edwards (Sarah Marsh); four great grandchildren: Emily, Kerry, Abbie, and Alex; one sister, Tilda McIntosh; two sisters in law: Mabel Edwards and Helen Edwards; special nephew, Dorsey Edwards; several other nieces and nephews also survive.  

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Monday March 22, 2021 in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 1:30 PM at the Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend Albert Bentley and Reverend Paul Winchester will officiate. Pallbearers will be Andy Vaughn, Jamie Tipton, Alex Perdue, Chris Grose, and Charlie Beals. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:00 PM Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.
