Howard Jenkins

Howard Jenkins, age 82 of Ebbs Chapel Community, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Ebbs Chapel and a son of the late Clay and Leakie Whitt Jenkins.

Howard was a member of Shady Grove Church. He was formerly employed at S & M Tool and Die for many years. Howard was the owner and operator of Jenkins Nursery for over forty-five years.

He loved gardening, planting shrubs and flowers. Howard enjoyed forging for ginseng, he liked to loafer and in his younger years he went whitewater rafting.  

In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his wife of almost sixty years, Yuvonda Metcalf Jenkins on October 27, 2022; one brother, Ricky Jenkins; two sisters: Rebecca Jenkins Ray and Helen Jenkins Letner.

Howard leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Janet Jenkins and his son, Joey Jenkins of Ebbs Chapel Community; two grandchildren: Emily Shelton and Mason Shelton; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Howard’s graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 02, 2025, in the Stateline Cemetery with Pastor Danny Jenkins officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend should assemble at the cemetery by 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday. After Howard’s graveside service Janet has requested friends and family to meet at Shady Grove Church with their favorite dessert to share a sweet memory of Howard while fellowshipping with the family.   

Janet would like to express her heartfelt appreciation to her “Wednesday Angel”, Carolyn Ponder who made delicious, homecooked meals for Howard and delivered them to his home every Wednesday for four years.
