Hazel (Bailey) Miller

Hazel Bailey Miller, age 99, Erwin, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. She was born on Friday, December 21, 1923, to the late Chester and Carrie Tipton Bailey in Yancey County, North Carolina. Hazel grew up in the Lost Cove Community.

She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Unaka Springs Freewill Baptist Church. Hazel loved going to church and participating in various church groups. She was an avid quilter and an excellent cook. Hazel made the best biscuits! Also, she enjoyed canning.

In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-one years, Clifford John Miller; two daughters: Hilda Miller and Wanda Miller; sister, Virginia June Bryant.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, children: Jackie Laws (Mark Howell), Erwin and Clifford Joseph Miller (Angie), of the home; granddaughter, India Martin (Josh); four great grandchildren: Matthew Miller, Christopher Miller, Jailyn Huskins and David Martin; special family members, Ronnie and Jean Laws;  several nieces and nephews also survive.

Hazel’s family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, in the funeral home chapel. Reverend Terry Richardson will officiate the 1:00 p.m. funeral service. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Music will be provided by Ron Fender. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
