Hazel Mae Tucker Hopson, age 102, of Erwin, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, October 23, 2025. She lived most of her life in Washington County. Hazel is a daughter of the late Andrew and Hester Poore Tucker.
Hazel was a member of Trinity Freewill Baptist Church. She worked for Southern Pottery where she painted dishes by hand for several years. After she left the pottery, Hazel became a homemaker.
Hot pink was Hazel’s favorite color, and she loved pink roses. Hazel’s favorite scripture was Psalm 121. She lived a long, full life.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Hopson; two brothers and two sisters.
Hazel is survived by her sister-in-law and caretaker, Ollie Ledford of Erwin.
Hazel’s graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Richard Blankenship will officiate. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 p.m. on Thursday.
