Gregory “Greg” Paul Grubbs, age 67, Erwin, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Erwin Health Care. He is a son of the late Dexter Grubbs and Gladys Masters Grubbs.
Greg attended Southside Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, playing pool and listening to gospel music. Greg loved video chatting with his sisters on his phone and liked using his tablet. He liked eating good, home cooked meals and visits from his family while he was in the nursing home. He loved going to his favorite restaurant which was Harbor House in Johnson City.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Tester Grubbs on December 30, 2019.
Greg leaves behind to cherish his memory, two sisters: Phyllis Harrell of Erwin and Lynda Phillips (Ed) of Unicoi; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Southside Freewill Baptist Church. Pastor Kevin Laws will officiate Greg’s 2:00 p.m. funeral service. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Denny Mason, Terry Harrell, Austin Harrell, and friends from Southside Freewill Baptist Church.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Erwin Health Care who took such great care of Greg and treated him like family for the past twelve years.
